Langtang / Gosainkund / Helamabu:
A Treks to this area starts from Dhunche after an interesting five hours drive from Kathmandu. The trail initially follows the line of the Trishuli River north before turning east and up into the wide alpine valley of Langtang.Kyanjin Gompa near the top end of the valley lies at 3,500m.And offers an ideal location for day walks to the spectacular glaciers falling from Langtang lirung or the Langsisa Glacier at the east and of the valley. Now a national park the area is fully protected and harbors animals like the Himallayan Tahr, musk deer, the rare lesser panda and the snow leopard. The holy lakes of Gosainkund and the Sherpa villages of Helambu are visited on the return journey
Helamabu Villages, this route explores the area lying north of Kathmandu. Helambu lies within the cirque of ridge-lines surrounding the Melamchi River. Buddhist farming Sherpas inhabit this picturesque area punctuated by Mani walks, prayer flags, chortens and a Gompa at Tharkegyang. This is ideal for trekker’s who want a fine trek with a diversity of culture, and good, if more distant, mountain views. It is underrated as an area for short treks and is highly recommended.

» Helamabu Valley Treks

It lies to the north of Kathmandu where dominantly Sherpa and Tamang races have their homes. The trekkers come in contact with temperate forests and alpine pastures, glaciers lakes and snowy peaks, which sometimes give the feeling of heaven. This delightful journey starts from the north of the Kathmandu Valley. It is an ideal trip for those who have little time and would like to combine a cultural experience with scenery at its best. Helambu is inhabited by an ethnic group of Sherpas quite different from those in the Solu Khumbu area. One the delights of this trek is that the trails are never overcrowded, even during the peak tourist season, and most of the greenery forests are quite intact.
